In an ever-evolving business environment, companies that prioritise the development of their workforce are the ones that not only survive but thrive.

GLP's 5% Club Achievements

As a member of the 5% Club, we are part of an exclusive group of organisations that have pledged to allocate 5% of our workforce to apprenticeships and other vocational training opportunities, to achieve great things. This community and commitment enables GLP Training to embrace a brighter future for our organisation and the talents within it.

At GLP Training, we're not just part of the 5% Club; we're pushing the boundaries of commitment to skills development, with a remarkable 12.2% of our staff engaging in various apprenticeship programmes! These range from cutting-edge AI and Marketing Degree Apprenticeships, to HR, Business Administration, and Content Creation Apprenticeships.

Benefits of Apprenticeships

Strategically investing in the development of your workforce has become an invaluable resource for enhancing the overall success and expansion of businesses.

With full-fledged government support, which covers 95% of the expenses associated with enrolling on apprenticeships for small employers, one might wonder, what additional benefits can this bring to your company?

1. Enhanced Productivity, Staff Morale and Loyalty

Apprentices learn and therefore understand different elements of their job at a faster rate than without training, making them more efficient and motivated. Loyalty increases in turn, as they feel valued within their role.

2. Tailored Skills Development

Companies can create bespoke apprenticeship programmes that are tailored to their ethos and organisational needs, which ensures their employees possess the exact skill sets to align with business goals.

3. Future-Proofing your workforce

As industries evolve, apprenticeships provide a means to cultivate talent for the jobs of the future. This forward-thinking approach ensures your organisation remains competitive in a dynamic marketplace.

4. Cost-Effective Training

Funding support from the government and potential levy transfers makes apprenticeships a cost-effective way to train staff.

5. Fresh and Diverse Perspectives

Apprenticeship programmes can attract a more diverse range of talent, which results in varied viewpoints and fresh innovative ideas creating opportunities and competitiveness for a company.

6. Stronger Company Reputation

Demonstrating a commitment to training your people not only enhances your company's reputation but also makes it more appealing to prospective clients, partners, and investors who value a socially responsible and forward-thinking approach.

It's easier than you think - Apprenticeship Funding

There's often a misconception around the cost of putting staff on an apprenticeship programme, however it can be a very affordable option for both large employers, who have a Levy pot, and SME's who do not.

Levy paying organisations must use their levy pot within 24 months, otherwise their funds will expire and be consumed as a tax. So, why not use these funds to help up-skill your staff and reap the benefits that apprenticeships can bring?

As an SME there are an array of options for apprenticeships with varying payment methods.

The most common funding scenario is that you will contribute only 5% of the total apprenticeship funding band. For example, one of our most popular courses, Property Maintenance Operative, has a total funding band of £14,000. As a non-levy paying organisation, you'll be liable for only 5% of this, with the government covering the remaining 95% of the cost, leaving your total training cost at only £700.

There are other situations where you can pay 0% of the cost, due to factors such as being a micro-business or due to the status of the apprentice.

Levy gifting is an alternative way to avoid paying for an apprenticeship programme. It is where larger, levy paying organisations cover the cost of the programme as a good-will gesture, perhaps if they are part of your supply chain.
