We’re proud to announce the official opening of Building Block Two, our brand-new training facility located in Dines Green, Worcester. This exciting development marks a major milestone for GLP Training and demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering high-quality training and tackling skills shortages across the UK.

New Training Facility in Worcester to Support Skills in Key Sectors

Building Block Two will support training in essential sectors such as plumbing, carpentry, sustainability, and retrofit. These industries are not only vital to the development of a resilient, future-ready workforce, they're also central to the UK’s transition to a greener economy. By equipping learners with green skills and practical, hands-on experience, this new facility plays a crucial role in preparing individuals for careers that support sustainable growth and low-carbon innovation.

As a Worcester Community Trust facility, Building Block Two was made possible through government funding and the support of Worcester City Council, with the goal of improving skills and opportunities within the local community. GLP Training is proud to be the end user, delivering high-quality, forward-thinking training from this fantastic new space.

Developing Future Talent

Our mission for Building Block Two is simple, and it echoes the success of the first Building Block: To create a dynamic, inclusive space where learners can grow their confidence, strengthen their skills, and prepare for fulfilling careers in high-demand industries.

Gemma Parsons, CEO of GLP Training, shares her thoughts on the launch:

“We’re thrilled to officially open Building Block Two. This new centre represents a fantastic opportunity, not only to support local individuals and employers with high-quality training, but also to attract students and businesses from across the UK to the area. We’re proud to play a role in developing the region’s skills, strengthening the local workforce, and contributing to the wider economic growth of Worcestershire. Building Block Two will be a vital hub for developing essential, in-demand skills - particularly in plumbing, carpentry, sustainability, and retrofit - where there are critical shortages not only locally, but nationwide.”

Community Partnerships at the Heart

The new training facility in Worcester is a true community effort. Helen, Chief Executive of Worcester Community Trust, reflects on the collaboration:

“Everyone involved has worked incredibly hard to create a space where the local community can develop skills for the future. It has been a pleasure to work with Askew Cavanna and Barnwood Ltd on the design and build of this project, and I look forward to continuing our partnership with GLP Training as they begin delivering courses here.”

GLP Training, a nationally recognised apprenticeship provider, currently delivers training at the original Building Block and will now expand its reach through programmes at Building Block Two, providing further space for learners to grow and develop relevant practical skills.

Backed by the City

David Blake, CEO of Worcester City Council, emphasises the facility's impact:

Our Town Investment Plan was focused on enhancing training opportunities within our community centres. These centres play a vital role in bringing people together, offering support and learning for residents of all ages. It’s fantastic to see Building Block Two come to life, providing even more chances for people to develop valuable new skills. We hope this facility will support Worcester’s construction industry and help equip residents with the skills they needed to thrive.

Looking Ahead

The launch of Building Block Two is just the beginning. As we welcome new learners through the doors, we’re excited to see the impact this facility will have, not just on individual careers, but on the wider community and local economy. With continued collaboration between GLP Training, Worcester Community Trust, and Worcester City Council, we’re confident this new space will become a thriving hub of opportunity, learning, and progress for years to come.
