Are you thinking about introducing new skills into your organisation in 2024/25 but need financial help to make it happen? The newly announced Skills Boost financial grant from the local government, is designed to assist the up-skilling of Worcestershire employers and employees.

What is the SkillsBoost Grant?

The SkillsBoost grant is a fantastic opportunity for businesses in Worcestershire to receive financial support for training and up-skilling their employees. This programme aims to enhance the skill set of the local workforce, making businesses more competitive and resilient in the ever-changing market.

The Skills Boost grant entitles Worcestershire companies of ANY size to receive up to £6,000 worth of funding for training programmes, including our NEW Bootcamps and Higher Technical Qualifications.

Why Invest in up-skilling?

Investing in employee training and development has numerous benefits:

  • Increased Productivity: Well-trained employees are more efficient and effective in their roles.

  • Employee Retention: Offering development opportunities can improve job satisfaction and reduce turnover.

  • Competitive Advantage: A skilled workforce can give your business an edge over competitors, and it contributes to your corporate social responsibility making you a more socially attractive organisation.

  • Adaptability: Training helps employees adapt to new technologies and methodologies, keeping your business agile.

Key Features of the SkillsBoost Grant:

  1. Generous Funding: Employers can up-skill their Worcestershire resident employees and claim back 50% of the costs, up to a maximum of £6,000. This means you could receive up to £12,000 in training support, with half of it covered by the grant.

  2. Wide Eligibility: The grant is available to any business with employees who are residents of Worcestershire. There is no restriction on business size, making it accessible for small, medium, and large enterprises alike. (Note that businesses in Malvern and Wychavon are not subject to employee postcode restrictions).

  3. Comprehensive Coverage: The funding can be used for both accredited and non-accredited training, as well as bespoke training programmes tailored to your business needs. This flexibility ensures that you can choose the training that best suits your organisational goals.

  4. Individual Limits: No single individual can receive more than £1,500 in grant funding, ensuring a fair distribution of resources across your team.

  5. Availability: The grant is available for a limited period, from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. Make sure to plan and apply within this window to take full advantage of the support offered.
