Our Course


Our Apprenticeship spans on an array of topics including team working, use of hand and power tools and understanding the basic carpentry and joinery techniques.


This apprenticeship will cover three sections: Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSB's). These are associated with a specific standard and covers topics that are specific to a Carpentry and Joinery Course. Some of the topics include:


Knowledge:

  • Fundamentals of joinery

  • How to use Personal Protective Equipment

  • Types of Building Structures, Materials and Components


Skills:

  • Measuring, marking and cutting wood

  • Installing timber frames and erecting timber, handrails and spindles for stairs, and floor joists and coverings

  • Hand and Power Tools


Behaviours:

  • Effective communication and team working

  • Independent working

  • Logical thinking


Our apprenticeships consists of:

  • 1 to 1 monthly meetings (with a GLP Trainer)

  • Online learning courses or group sessions

  • Maths and English Level 2 Course (if not previously achieved)

  • Building an electronic portfolio of work related evidence

  • End Point Assessment (EPA) by an external examiner to complete the qualification consisting of a project assignment and a professional discussion.
