The Coaching Professional Level 5 Apprenticeship is a comprehensive

training programme that prepares individuals for a career in coaching. This

apprenticeship covers a range of topics, including coaching models and

frameworks, communication and listening skills, emotional intelligence, goal

setting, and leadership.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship, apprentices will have a deep

understanding of coaching and will be able to coach individuals and teams in

a variety of settings, including business, sports, and personal development.

They will also be equipped with the skills and knowledge to establish and

manage coaching relationships, apply different coaching techniques, and

evaluate the effectiveness of coaching interventions.

As a Coaching Professional, they will have a crucial role in supporting

individuals and teams to achieve their goals and fulfil their potential. They

will also be able to work independently, manage their own coaching practice,

and develop their skills and knowledge to meet the evolving needs of their

clients. With these skills, they will be able to progress to more senior roles

within their organisation or pursue further training in coaching or leadership.

This apprenticeship prepares individuals to become adept at releasing potential and enabling significant transitions, transformations, and change within organisations. Graduates of this programme are well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to business improvement and to thrive in diverse and dynamic environments.

Entry Requirements:

Down to the discretion of individual employers but typically includes:

Level 2 English and Mathematics, or equivalent (can be completed during the apprenticeship)
16 or over
Not in Full-Time Education

The training is a blended learning delivery model, which occurs on the job during working hours. A structured learning and assessment plan is put in place to test core components of the course along the way.

This consists of:

1-to-1 monthly meeting: Approx. two hours with a GLP Trainer (face-to-face or telephone)
Online learning courses and/or group sessions
Building an electronic portfolio of work-related evidence
Maths and English Level 2 (if not previously achieved)
6 hours a week spent working towards your apprenticeship.
End Point Assessment by an external examiner to complete the qualification, consisting of a resourcing project assignment and a professional discussion.

To achieve the qualification, within which you can either get a result of Pass, Distinction or Fail, you will be assessed both throughout the period of your apprenticeships, as well as in the final stages with an End Point Assessment (EPA).

End Point Assessment:

The EPA period will only start once the employer is satisfied that the apprentice is consistently working at or above the level set out in the occupational standard.

In addition, the apprentice must have completed the following gateway requirements prior to beginning EPA:

Functional Skills Qualification (if required to do so).

The End Point Assessment process which typically takes 3 months, consists of three components:

Observation with questioning

The assessor will observe you carrying out your day-to-day activities in your workplace and ask questions about the processes you follow/actions that you take.

Portfolio-based Interview

An interview that takes 60 minutes and is based on the portfolio that is gathered through the course of the apprenticeship.

A Knowledge Test

The first assessment for this course will be in the form of a multiple-choice examination.

The combined score of these three methods will provide the final grade for the apprenticeship.
